Stork Billed Kingfisher Singapore

Singapore’s largest resident Kingfisher – The Stork Billed Kingfisher. A very large Kingfisher measuring about 37cm (15′). Photographed in the midst of thrashing a Common Tilapia onto the branch it was perching on. I would not be surprised the Tilapia was partially alive still when it was being swallowed down!
These Kingfishers are pretty common in the Mangroves, swamps and quarries, and not to be confused with the Brown Winged Kingfishers.

Photographed with Nikon D200, AF-D 80-400mm VR on a Basic Tripod @

400mm (35mm equivalent 600mm), ISO 200, 1/3th sec, F11, Spot Metering.
